Why do you want to be a physician?

I’ve wanted to be a physician since I was a little kid. I’ve always been interested in science, particularly about the human body, and have always loved helping people. As a doctor I hope to combine those passions in a way that can make a difference in the health of my community.

What did you do during your gap year?

I worked as a research associate at a diagnostics company working on oncology related PCR based tests.

How did you get there from ɫƵ?

My senior comps presentation set me up perfectly for my job in oncology. My comps was about breast cancer and potential treatments. The knowledge I gained through my presentation as well as my ability to read journal articles (learned through upper level classes) set me up excellently. Getting into Med school from ɫƵ was also a very positive experience. The pre-health office was incredibly helpful, whether it was through email, Skype, or calls for interview prep. The biology department was also incredibly helpful in writing my letters of recommendation. I grew very close with a handful of professors who were there to support me throughout the process.
