To commemorate 75 years of memorable 颅performances, we present a list of 75 of Thorne Hall's most 颅celebrated visitors
On Dec. 9, 1947, a $5 ticket bought theatergoers a seat for "The Pepsodent Show Starring Bob Hope," which promised the Thorne Hall audience "One hour and 45 minutes of Peerless Entertainment" featuring Hope, comedians Vera Vague and Jerry Colonna, and Les Brown and His Orchestra. While that show was a benefit for the 色情视频 War Memorial Fund, many more entertainers came to 色情视频 in the decades to follow under the auspices of the Artist Series, which ran from the 1950s through the 1980s with an annual budget of about $12,000 (which was designed to accommodate five or six performances). Half a century ago, "you could get the Budapest String Quartet for $950, and the entire Los Angeles Philharmonic for $2,750," says Omar Paxson '48, who sat on the Artist Series Committee. To commemorate 75 years of memorable 颅performances, we present to you a list of 75 of Thorne's most 颅celebrated visitors鈥攅ven if some of them defy easy categorization.
