The Humanities for Just Communities Summer Fellows Program invites applications from rising sophomores interested in the Humanities to participate in faculty mentored research through the ten-week Summer Research Program offered by the Undergraduate Research Center. HJC Summer Fellows will receive a study award of $6,000, and fully subsidized on-campus housing and meal plan from May 29-August 2, 2024. Students must live on campus and be committed to the full ten weeks of the program, which will culminate with a presentation at the annual Summer Research Program Conference. The program is open to all rising sophomores interested in the arts, languages, literature, critical theory, philosophy, religious studies, and history. Priority will be given to students who are the first in their families to attend college, low-income students, students with limited access to humanities instruction in their high school programs, and students interested in the problem-solving power of the Humanities to advance social justice.

The theme for the 2024 Summer Fellows Program is migration, displacement, and cultural resilience and includes led by research mentors, Professor , Professor Ford, and Professor Jacober.
