All of the details you need to know to call Occidental “home”!
The Residential Education and Housing Services (REHS) department is dedicated to making sure that your residential stay at Occidental is safe, comfortable, and enriching. REHS utilizes a software program called eRezlife to manage housing. eRezlife allows you to complete your housing application, indicate roommate preferences, and review additional resources and bulletins pertaining to housing at ɫƵ. The housing application won’t open until early June 2025. For now, start exploring housing options on campus.
Housing options for first-year students
REHS has several housing options for our first-year students. Review them below to familiarize yourself:
First-year residence halls
Most first-year students live in one of five residence halls that make up the First-Year Experience (FYE) Area. Visit the First-Year Experience webpage to read up on these halls and take a video tour. You will be assigned to a hall based upon your room type and roommate preferences in the housing application.
Themed Living Communities and other special interest housing
Themed Living Communities (TLCs) are themed residence houses that provide intentional programming and community-building opportunities for students with shared identities. Several of our TLCs are open to first-year students:
- Baldwin House
- Women’s Scholars
- Multicultural
If you are interested in applying for a TLC or gender-inclusive housing as a first-year student, you can indicate this on your housing application. Space is limited in each of the communities; you will be notified when you receive your housing assignment in August.
Disability accommodations
If you require housing accommodations due to a documented medical or psychiatric disability, you should complete that step next. Please review the Housing Accommodations Policy on the Disability Services website and then submit the disability accommodation request form found at the bottom of that page. The deadline for incoming students to apply for housing accommodations is early July, 2025. Please note that while Disability Services accepts housing accommodation requests throughout the year, any student who is approved after the deadline will be added to the waitlist, and will be placed whenever space becomes available.
Room and roommate(s) assignments
REHS spends June and July reviewing all incoming student housing applications, determining room assignments, and matching roommates. You can expect to receive your room assignment and roommate(s) information via email directly from REHS in early August 2025.
